About

Maureen Cooper lives in the beautiful Woolshed Valley, about 11km from Beechworth, Victoria. She is a passionate conservationist and has conducted extensive bird surveys in various parts of Queensland as well as writing books. 'Bimblebox Babies' were inspired by the fauna of Bimblebox Nature Refuge during Maureen's many stays at the refuge. Each hand-made item is made from recycled materials, '...remnant materials from sewing and school fetes, leftover buttons (some given by neighbours) and old wool jumpers I have felted in boiling water. I have a cupboard full of odds and ends, much to the delight of my grandsons who often do crafty things when they visit.' Her most recent book, 'Bimblebox — A Nature Refuge Under Siege', was compiled in response to the lies told by the mining proponent and various government ministers. She says, 'I want people to see what we will be losing by allowing this unique area to be mined for coal.' Bimblebox Babies are given as gifts with donations of $25 or more to Bimblebox Nature Refuge. (Where noted, a $35 donation is required.)
